All DMU undergraduate and postgraduate students have a designated Personal Tutor throughout their programme. From the moment they join the university, students are encouraged to build a relationship with their Personal Tutor who, along with specialist services, as appropriate (e.g. The Student Gateway, Library and Learning Services, Student Advice Centres) will support and guide students in their journey to fulfil their academic potential and to achieve their academic and personal development goals.

Your Personal Tutor has oversight of your overall progress. They provide guidance on developing your personal skills and enhancing your employability. They can also signpost you to other expert support if you have specific needs or concerns.  It is important that you keep in regular contact with your Personal Tutor throughout your studies.

Who is my Personal Tutor?

Your Personal Tutor’s name and email address can be found on the myDMU app in the ‘Personal Information’ tile.

Select the tile. The name of your personal tutor is located under ‘Department’ (just below where you see your own personal details). Selecting the ‘Personal Tutor’ link will reveal your tutor’s details including email address.

If this is blank or if you are still unsure, please contact hls.advice.centre@dmu.ac.uk
